The interactions between water, energy and food are important and there are many key organizations studying how these systems influence and are influenced by one another. The research is important because as resources become more scarce and climate change alters where and how precipitation falls, the US cannot afford to view these systems in isolation. The country will need to develop more efficient and innovative methods of providing for its water, energy and food needs.
